27 April 2011 Advance Reports: May 7th & 8th

by Point-to-Point Racing Company Ltd Staff

Advance information has started to come through from meetings taking place over the weekend of May 7th & 8th.

  • The Kimblewick at Kingston Blount reported on Friday that they have been watering since Tuesday and have already put on the equivalent of an inch of rain on the course, watering will continue as necessary throughout next week in order to achieve mostly Good ground. There is an excellent cover of grass, all bends will be on fresh ground and the whole racing line over the hill will be moved to completely fresh ground
  • The Wheatland at Chaddesley Corbett state that watering has been taking place since the Worcestershire meeting in mid-April and the course will continue to be watered as necessary up to the day of the meeting. All fences and bends will be on fresh ground.
  • The Surrey Union at Peper Harow have been watering continually of late and will continue to do so up to the day of the meeting, if necessary. There is a river next to the course so water is not in short supply.
  • No specific going report from the Modbury Harriers at Flete Park but they have already announced their admission prices, which will be £20 for a car and passengers, £10 for single occupancy.
  • Granta Harriers' evening meeting at Higham state: In order to hopefully ensure reasonable runners for the Granta Harriers meeting on 7th May we are offering to any horses running £25 if they hold an East Anglian qualification certificate and £35 to those with certificates from outside the area towards travelling expenses. The course will be watered (assuming necessary!) in a similar fashion to the Easter Saturday meeting however in order to maximise the use of the water in the reservoir available and minimise evaporation we will be watering on Thurs/Friday, throughout the night on Friday and Saturday morning. Hopefully owners will support us by entering for this meeting and bringing runners to provide a good evening's racing. Entries to Meg Martin 01223 237112 by Saturday 30th please.
  • The Cumberland at Aspatria have begun watering, and will continue to do so for as long as necessary to ensure the best ground possible. The going is currently GOOD, GOOD to FIRM in places.
  • The Bilsdale at Easingwold have already started watering in order to maintain GOOD ground.
  • Watering will also take place at Garthorpe in the run-up to the Melton Hunt Club meeting.
