02 June 2010 Report: Albrighton Woodland - Chaddesley Corbett

Award Winners: (from left) Caroline Mackness, sponsor Jim Callow, Mark Wall and Fergal O'Brien

Cakebole based Pauline Yardley returned to training this season after a 18-year absence and was rewarded when she sent out Cherokee Star to land the Members race at the Albrighton Woodland fixture at her local course on Monday afternoon.

The 5-year-old faced just one solitary rival but was given a positive ride by Ben Poste and drew clear of his rival up the final hill.

Ben Ryan had nothing more to give in the home straight and the winner stayed on well to prevail by 10 lengths in the colours of Di Williams, who was unable to witness this victory because he was in France.

Fergal O'Brien and Mark Wall have both been in unstoppable form so far this season with the former winning the Area Trainers' championship for the third time, while Wall was tasting success for the first time as the areas leading Rider.

Neither left this meeting empty handed with O'Brien saddling the Restricted winner Present D'Aze, while Wall was seen at this best when landing the West Midland Area Conditions race with Smugglers Run.

Jake Greenall is chasing the National Title but from four rides he was limited to just one winner when Ofaral d'Airy outclassed his rivals in the Mens Open.

At the end of the meeting O'Brien received the Trainers Prize for the Callow Oils Chaddesley Championship (based on points accrued at all five meetings held at the Worcestershire venue during 2010).

Present D'Aze's success in the Restricted meant that owner Caroline Mackness received a special commissioned Candy Thomas sculpture for the Leading Horse.
