24 March 2010 Preview: Badsworth & Bramham Moor - Whitcliffe Grange
by Charlotte Brader
The Badsworth and Bramham Moor Hunt Point-to-Point takes place at Britain's newest course, at Whitcliffe Grange, near Ripon, on Saturday 27th March. This should have been the second Point-to-Point at this course but unfortunately, the West of Yore lost their meeting at the end of January, so this is the first time the course will be used.
157 entries have been received for the 8 race card and the Maiden has been split three times. The first race is at 1.00pm and there will now only be 30 minute intervals between races.
As well as the divisions of the Maiden there is also a Point-to-Point Owners and Riders Club race for Novice riders, which has received 24 entries. The Confined race, which is the first race, has the largest number of entries with 33.
The course is 1.25 miles round with six plain fences and one open ditch per circuit. It is an oval, largely flat course with a gradual pull up the back straight, where four of the seven fences are located.
Whitcliffe Grange is situated close to Ripon city centre off the Harrogate Road. There will be signposts from the A61 Ripon by-pass indicating the route to the course and the postcode for satellite navigation is HG4 3AS. Admission is £8 per person and there will be public catering, a public bar and a champagne bar.
