With the death of Bryan Dunn last week, the Yorkshire Point-to-Point area has lost one of its great enthusiasts.

A bookmaker by profession, Bryan owned horses under Rules for many years before turning his attentions to the amateur sport. Among the winners owned by himself and his wife Enid, in whose name the Pointers usually ran, were Charlies Memory and Sea Senor, trained respectively by brother and sister Cherry Coward and David Easterby. He also had horses with Elaine Smith, daughter-in-law of retired trainer Denys Smith, who had handled his runners on the professional circuit.

It was Sea Senor who gave Bryan his final success at Garthorpe in May, when despite being in the advanced stages of his illness he was able to be present to collect the trophy.
