Candy Mathias, who as Candy Thomas rode nearly 60 winners between the flags, now combines looking after her and husband Richard's twin sons, born in 2007, with sculpting.
Candy produces limited edition sculptures in cold cast bronze and copper, and her commissions to date include the provision of several trophies for Point-to-Point area award winners, including those presented for the Brightwells' Order of Excellence champions.
Although she has had no formal training in sculpting, Candy's knowledge of the thoroughbred is outstanding, which is evident in the pieces which she produces.
