Lucy Johnson previews the Cornwall Hunt Club fixture at Wadebridge, where Kicks For Free could start his Pointing career.

Racing fans can enjoy a Sunday afternoon treat this weekend with the Cornwall Hunt Club's Point-to-Point taking place at the Royal Cornwall Showground, Wadebridge.

Six races are on the card with the Cornwall Hunt Club Members Race for Novice Riders kicking off proceedings at 12pm. 12 Entries have been received including Fully Loaded, who opened his account for the season at Black Forest Lodge two weeks ago. Henri Prends Garde may run for Richard Woollacott's stable and Hunter Chase winner Nobody Tells Me may run for Polly Gundry and Ed Walker.

A strong Entry for the Mens Open includes Southwestern, who had a relatively inauspicious campaign last season by his own high standards. He comes from a stable in good form with trainer Camilla Scott's husband Jeremy saddling a decent winner at Exeter on Sunday.

Other Entries include new recruit to the Amateur ranks Pauillac (previously with David Pipe) and the ex-Paul Nicholls inmate Takeroc. They should both come into the reckoning if fit for their seasonal debuts.

Another former Paul Nicholls-trained horse is Kicks For Free who looks set to make his mark in Ladies races having been burdened under Rules with a prohibitive handicap rating. As a former contender at the Cheltenham Festival and at Aintree's Grand National meeting he is sure to give a good account of himself this season. Richard Barber could saddle Barneys Mate in the same race.

Restricted races are always highly competitive and nearly all the Entries in Sunday's race were winners from last season, including Light Touch, Mayfair Lastchance, Red Watch and My Nicole. They could face The Slug who won a Maiden in good style at Black Forest Lodge two weeks ago.

Intermediate entries include Watching Football, a previous bumper winner who may have improved again with another summer behind him.

40 Entries have been received for the Maiden race with several promising types sure to be lining up.

As well as the racing, there's an indoor Christmas market in the barn with stalls selling a range of products.

Veronica Lamond, author of the children's book Landy, will be making an appearance along with the Land Rover on which the story is based.

Horse Owners are invited to make use of an equine worm count stand run by local expert Karen Wilshaw. A dung sample is needed and Karen will be able to give a report and advice on what treatment is needed.

Parking and access are easy as the showground has a good network of tarmac roads and the main showground entrance on the A39 is used. Entrance is £10 for a car and driver, with £5 charged for each additional passenger.
