07 April 2010 Preview: Cheshire Forest - Tabley

by Arthur Shone

The Cheshire Forest Hunt has attracted a decent entry of 105 for their meeting between the flags at Tabley on Sunday April 11th.

This meeting comes the day after the three day John Smith's Grand National meeting at Liverpool, many racegoers regard the Cheshire Forest meeting at Tabley as the fourth day of a festival of racing in the North West. Racing comes under starters orders at 2.00pm and is set to conclude at 5.40pm.

One of the feature races on the card is the Connolly's Red Mills Intermediate race, for which the first four horses past the judge qualify for the £7,000 Connolly's Red Mills Intermediate Point to Point Championship Final at Cheltenham on Wednesday May 5th 2010. Heading the entries is the Jimmy Tarry trained Enigma Variations, a progressive sort who has won both starts at Garthorpe this season including a four length defeat of Brave Admiral last time out. Also amongst the entries is Banbury Babe, who won a similar race at the Thorpe Lodge meeting on Bank Holiday Monday. Others to note with winning form include History Master, Deep Hall and Keenans Reserve. A good race is in prospect.

Admission to this popular Cheshire course is £25 per car, regardless of the number of passengers, for single occupancy the charge will be £15.

There will be a parade of the Cheshire Forest Hounds at around 3.00pm, this event is very popular with the younger generation who love to go into the parade ring and mingle with the hounds.
