14 April 2010 Preview: Cleveland - Mordon
by Charlotte Brader
The Cleveland Hunt Point-to-Point takes place at Howe Hills, Mordon, near Sedgefield on Sunday 18th April and nine races have been scheduled as both Maidens have been split at entry stage. 159 entries have been received and the first race, the Hunt Members race is due to be run at 1.30 pm.
The second and third races are both divisions of the 2 mile 4 furlong race in which four year olds are eligible to compete.
22 horses have been entered for the Ladies Open race, including Andre Chenier, who although beaten last time out in a Mixed Open race relishes the lighter weight in the Ladies Open races and is sure to be among the shake up.
The Mens Open is a very competitive affair, with The Viking, who won here last year but is making a step up in trip. Oaklands Bobby has also put in some very promising runs this season and is knocking on the door.
The Confined race is run over the extended distance of 3 miles 5 furlongs and has received 16 entries. The final two races are divisions of the Open Maiden.
The course is left handed and the facilities are excellent. There is a grandstand to watch the racing from and the majority of the course can be seen apart from the start. Admission is £5 per person and £5 per car.
