18 May 2009 Preview: Dulverton Farmers - Treborough Hill

by Lucy Johnson

ASHLEY Farrant looks likely to continue his good form at Treborough Hill on Saturday, where he has a choice of runners in the Members race.

They include triple winner King's Wood and Master Overseer, who was beaten in the Members race at Bratton Down last time out when an odds-on chance to win. Better ground may see this out-and-out stayer bounce back.

The 15 entries in the Ladies Open include Ross Oliver's consistent Wee Fly, whose five outings this season have yielded two wins, two seconds and a third. Also entered is the John Dufosee-trained Beadnell Bay, who has added three Open successes to his haul this season and will be popular in the market.

Beadnell Bay is also entered in the Mens Open, where possible opposition includes Henry and Sarah Prouse's Bannow Strand, an easy winner in a Members race at Upcott Cross on his Point-to-Point debut, and the Sue Popham-trained Thunder Child who was a decent winner at Cothelstone last week.

Plenty of horses with decent bits of form are set to line up in the Intermediate race including Bratton Down winner Velvet Victory, Eternal Midnight and Ross Go Lad, but the Andy Jackson-trained Major Matt, who won well at the Axe Vale meeting in April, could be the one to win again if gets the top of the ground which he needs.

Magical Flight won well at Cothelstone last week and he could follow up in the Restricted. He's a consistent horse who has won once and been placed second twice on his three starts this season and is sure to give a good account of himself.

Maiden entries include Deloughtane, second at Ideford Arch earlier this month, Mayfair Tambourine and The Snipper, who could also run well.

The course is situated on the B3224 on the Wheddon Cross to Raleighs Cross road. The first of the six races is off at 2pm.
