Bratton Down is the location for the first of three meetings at the North Devon track this Sunday (May 22) and the course will be aggrivated every day in the lead up to the meeting.
Dulverton West secretary Claire Wright said: "We've had some rain and the ground is currently good but we'll use the Aggrivator every day so that we provide the best possible ground we can."
The meeting has received over 100 entries and two pony races begin the card at 11.45am before the Confined Race gets underway at 1pm.
Seven horses are entered including Rockwithacaveman who has form on the area's staying tracks and comes from a yard that is bang in form.
Wee Fly has rattled up four wins this term and Ross Oliver's game mare can add to her tally in the Ladies Open where her confirmed stamina should see off the rest of the field.
Gallant Lad has been running consistently well all season and the course could suit his way of running in the Maiden.
Hereweareagain has been progressing nicely this season and was last seen winning at Flete Park a couple of weeks ago. He could go well in the Intermediate, as could the Richard Barber-trained Mister Twirley who ran well when winning at Upcott Cross in April.
Barber can add another win to his haul with Cappoquin who will be a warm order to add to the three wins he's already scored this season with victory in the Mens Open. Admittedly, two of those wins were scored on the same day when he won a walkover and the Confined at the Axe Vale meeting, but he's been running well when faced with opponents. Different Trades would be a popular winner for Bob Buckler on the back of his consistent form this season that includes a win at Chaddesley Corbett in January.
Barneys Mate is the obvious choice in the Novice Riders Race. He's won five times this season with Harry Derham on board for four.
The concluding race on the card is the Restricted, and Barber could have another winner with Apple A Night who won a Maiden race at Upcott Cross.
On-course bookies, tradestands, a licensed bar and Orswell Catering will all be in attendance and entrance is £20 per car or £10 per car and one occupant.
The course is situated nine miles north east of Barnstaple on the A399 and 11 miles north of South Molton, postcode EX31 4SG.
Just five meetings remain in the Devon and Cornwall area with the final meeting taking place at Umberleigh on Saturday, June 18. The area's annual Point-to-Point dinner and dance takes place at the Holiday Inn, Plymouth on Friday, July 8.
