23 March 2010 Preview: Easton Harriers - High Easter

by James Crispe

Thatmakestwoofus, who was a hugely impressive winner at Marks Tey last Sunday, may make a quick reappearance in the Dodson & Horrell Novice Riders Race at the Easton Harriers fixture at High Easter on Saturday.

The son of Rock Hopper has taken a long time to hit form but, now that a rare sugar allergy has been diagnosed and treated, it would be no surprise if he scores again here en route to better things.

A total of 80 entries have been received for this six-race fixture which starts at 1.00pm with 22 engaged in the Open Maiden and runs through until 3.50pm, when Thatmakestwoofus has eight potential opponents in the Novice Riders event.

The Mens Open may provide an opportunity for Where's My Baby, who at Higham three weeks ago lost his enviable career record of never having finished out of the first two, to regain the winning thread. A stomach virus may explain that uncharacteristic recent flop.

The Ladies Open could go to reigning East Anglian champion jockette, Gina Andrews. She has the choice of riding either Inaro, who was a fine second to the classy Mid Div And Creep last Sunday, or Delightful Cliche, who ran out an easy Ampton winner on his latest outing.

The course is just south of the village of High Easter, eight miles north west of Chelmsford. From M11 Junction 8 take A120 east towards Colchester for roughly eight miles until the Dunmow South exit. Take A130 (direction Chelmsford). As you arrive in Barnston turn right at a mini roundabout signposted 'The Easters'.

Follow this road all the way to High Easter where you turn right at a T junction. Stay on this road through the village and the course is about half a mile out the other side.

Admission will be charged at £10 per head with under 17s admitted free. The going is currently 'good to firm' and watering will take place if necessary.
