THE ACCORDION MAN: is entered in the Confined
The Flint and Denbigh Hunt have attracted a bumper entry of 200 for their fixture at Bangor on Dee this Sunday March 8th 2009, which is an increase of 39% on the corresponding meeting last year.Because of the high number of runners declared both Maiden races have been divided making a total of 9 races on the day.
Admission to this popular North Wales course is £25.00 per car, regardless of the number of passengers, £15 for single occupancy and £8 for pedestrians. There will also be over 30 trade stands in operation at the track, information about these stands and other events taking place at the meeting can be viewed on the website, which www.bangorpoint2points.co.uk.
Racing comes under starters orders at 12noon with the Members race and concludes at 4.50pm with the Intermediate race.
Clerk of the course Ed Gretton lists the going as good on Sunday March 1st 2009. Speaking on Sunday, he said," The going at Bangor on Dee is currently good, but there is not much rain forecast for the rest of the week, so I will monitor the situation and I may have to water the course if necessary to ensure decent ground on the day."
There will be a new trophy for the winning owner of the Confined race which cost £1,500 and is donated by the Scott family who also sponsor the race. The race is a memorial race to commemorate the late Dennis Scott, who was the secretary of the Flint & Denbigh Hunt for many years. Amongst the 26 entries is the Willie Bryan trained Good Time Willie, the Good Thyne gelding who used to be trained under rules by Peter Bowen was a very impressive winner at Eyton on Severn last Sunday when beating Double Tangle easing down by 15 lengths. Hadnall trainer Sheila Crow, who goes to the Cheltenham Festival with a leading contender in Cappa Bleu, who is the 5-1 ante post favourite for the Foxhunters, has a very strong hand in this race with The Accordion Man, a winner at Chaddesley Corbett, and Gunner Be Quick, a winner at Eyton on Severn last Sunday. Also entered is Pack Drill, who landed a real touch in the ring at Eyton on Severn last Sunday for his flamboyant owner Derek Malam. Others to consider are Adams Wine, Would Wouldn't and Heavy Weather, and a cracking race is in prospect.
