07 April 2009 Preview: Four Burrow Foxhounds - Trebudannon
ROCKWITHACAVEMAN: a leading contender for the Cornish National
The Four Burrow has attracted a total of 145 entries for their Easter Monday meeting at Trebudannon, where the seven-race card gets under way at 1 o'clock.
The meeting features the Cornish National run over three and a half miles and Rockwithacaveman is likely to start favourite. The 25 entries include other smart performers such as Braeroy, McSolo, Mioche D'Estruval, Stone Valley and Ballybrown. Mandy Hand plans to ride her recent winner Dante's Back, and he will appreciate the long trip.
There are 29 entries for the Restricted and Rockwithacaveman's rider Polly Gundry can be on the mark here with recent Cattistock winner Quite A Splash.
Xila Fontenailles deserves a change of luck in the Confined. She looks to have Ellies Horse, Karinga Coin and Walter De Wodeland as her main rivals.
The Open Maiden for four to seven-year-olds has been divided. Sosueme Now can gain consolation for her narrow defeat at Great Trethew, and four-year-old Portway Lane may make her allowance tell in the other division.
The three miles maiden has 38 entries. Rush On Sonner is a tentative choice, having shaped well at Kingston St Mary behind Misstree Dancer, who has since won again.
Jaunty Janner represents Four Burrow secretary David Congdon in the Hunt race. The veteran pointer ran very well on his seasonal debut at the East Cornwall, but will have to be at his best to cope with Wee Fly.
The course will be watered as necessary. Entrance costs £10 for car and driver plus £5 for each additional passenger. This excellent viewing track is 5 miles east of Newquay, near the A39, close to St Columb Major. TR9 4LP.
