27 February 2008 Granta Harriers - Higham

Popular local mare Scare Lotte, so unlucky when touched off in a Novice Hunter Chase at Huntingdon last week, may bid to get back on the winning trail at the Granta Harriers fixture at Higham on Sunday March 2.

A total of 94 entries have been received for this six-race fixture, which gets under way at 1.30pm with an 11-entry Higham Hunts Club Members Race and runs through until 4.35pm, when the Open Maiden, which has 18 engaged, comes under orders.

Scare Lotte has a choice of engagements. Yet to triumph in Open company, she has 14 potential opponents including the recent course scorer Beet de Bob and last year's three-time Cottenham winner, Bell Rock, in the Ladies' Open.

The Countryside Alliance Club Members may represent an easier option, although it does have Cottenham Open race winner Caveman and the 2004 Grand National third, Lord Atterbury, among its 19 entries.

Mr Tee Pee, already a three-time winner this season for the red hot Alan Hill yard, stands out among the 14 engaged in the Men's Open. Should he decline this opportunity in favour of a tilt at a hunter chase, Another Dude looks the best alternative.

Finally, the 17-entry Restricted could be at the mercy of Prey Bird, whose recent Cottenham victory was franked when seventh-placed Nomadic Blaze won at Marks Tey.

Higham is between Colchester and Ipswich just off the A12 using the B1068 signposted for Stoke-by-Nayland. Admission will be charged at £10 per head with under 17s free.
