Ian Chanin, who broke his leg in a schooling fall before the start of the season, is back in the saddle at home riding out two lots a day, but admits that he wouldn't pass the vet - "I'm not walking sound yet," he said.

He hopes to make his comeback in March, but in the meantime has been working on the new website for Black Forest Lodge, www.bflracing.com.

Also looking at a March return is Claire Hart, who broke her hand when Redskyatnight slipped up on the final bend at Cottenham on Saturday. Claire was due to have the injury pinned and plated on Wednesday.

Another Cottenham casualty was Adrian Wintle, whose Men's Open mount All Things Equal looked to be in command when crashing out at the penultimate. Adrian sustained some slight knee ligament damage, but is hoping to be fit enough to ride again this weekend.

One of Yorkshire's leading ladies, Pip Tutty, has discovered that skiing is no less hazardous than race-riding, having broken her leg on the slopes in December. Pip is uncertain as to the length of her enforced inactivity, as it is possible that the break may need further surgery.

Hannah Watson tore some shoulder ligaments in a Horseheath fall on January 30, and although she is riding again at home she is giving herself another weekend off before she race-rides again.
