29 September 2011 Isabel Tompsett continues to improve

by Carolyn Tanner

Isabel Tompsett, although still in hospital following her Fakenham fall in April, is reported by her great friend Sally Randell, who visited her earlier this week, to be making steady progress.

"At one time she'd get tired after ten minutes and start talking nonsense, but we were there for over an hour and she didn't lapse once," said Sally.

Isabel's short-term memory is good but, perhaps thankfully, she remembers nothing of last season or her accident, although she can recall all the horses she has ridden. One eye does not focus properly at the moment but she has clear sight in the other and is able to read and watch television, and she is currently using a walking frame with which she can get around quite well.

Perhaps her biggest achievement is being able to go home for short periods at the weekend, a scenario which will hopefully become more frequent as she gets stronger.
