SAM WALEY-COHEN: 50 Pointing wins

Following his Kempton triumph on the exciting Novice Chaser Long Run, Sam Waley-Cohen was in winning action at the more low-key venue of Chaddesley Corbett, where his father Robert's home-bred Roulez Cool provided his rider's 50th victory between the flags. Sam's initial Point-to-Point success was on Wishing William at Mollington in 2000.

Also reaching a half-century was Will White, who took the Maiden at Ideford Arch on the sidelined Lucy Gardner's Turning Tide. Will had scored his first success in 2003, on Caundle Chase at Cothelstone.

Jack Quinlan, 17, made a winning Point-to-Point debut at Cottenham on The Railway Man, owned and trained by his mother Jo. Jack, who works for his father Noel (assistant to his trainer brother Mick), has already had some rides on the flat, and had previously enjoyed plenty of success in the pony racing arena.

Cottenham was also the venue for the first double recorded by Jonny England, brother of professional jockey David. Cheltenham-based Jonny, who rides out for David Bridgwater, landed the two Maidens for owner-trainer Michael Gates, taking the 3m contest on Crack At Dawn and the 2½ miler on Mr Johnson.
