Crazy Music's Maiden victory at Flete Park on Saturday brought up Lucy Gardner's 100th career winner, a total which includes 12 successes under Rules. Lucy has been Devon & Cornwall area champion on several occasions, and she has twice been joint runner-up in the Ladies' national championship, in 2002 and 2003.
Carolyn Woods, 26, opened her account at Holnicote on Saturday when she took the PPORA Members' Conditions on My Pal Val. Carolyn, the partner of Danny Cook (who has just turned conditional for the second time), had her first ride at the corresponding fixture 12 months ago. She trains her own horses but would like to expand her yard by taking in Pointers for other owners.
Tina Timbrell, 20, rode her first winner at Coldharbour on Sunday when Howard Howard, trained by her employer Steve Flook, won the Novice Riders' race. It was only the fourth ride for Tina, who at 4'11" must rank as one of the most vertically challenged jockeys to hold a certificate! She is in her second spell of working at the Flook yard, having spent some time with John Needham in between.
Will Hickman went to the head of the Wilkinson Sword championship when he recorded his first double at Godstone. Will won the Restricted on Prince Rodney, who was scoring for the third time this season, and followed up in the Dodson & Horrell Novice Riders' contest on the ex-Nicky Richards inmate Possextown, now with Adrian and Samantha Gibbons in Essex.
Well Worthy's Maiden victory at Heslaker on Sunday brought up Jo Foster's 50th career success. Jo, who holds a public trainer's licence, rode her first winner at Gisburn on Polar Hat in 1996, and in 2002 she was joint runner-up, with Lucy Gardner, for the national title.
Irishman Rob Gault, 21, recorded his first success at Dingley when he won the Maiden on his own Croftburn, a mare he purchased at the end of 2008 after she had been running between the flags in Ireland. Rob works for Stuart Campbell, and is hoping that after this victory he may pick up a few outside rides in Points.
16-year-old trainee farrier Kennie Little enjoyed success on only his second ride when he took one of the Lauderdale Maidens on Izathens, owned by his father Kenny, himself a winning rider between the flags.
