LITTLE ROCKER (foreground): a first Pointing success for Ben Furnival

22-year-old Ben Furnival opened his account between the flags on Saturday when Little Rocker, who had given him a Hunter Chase success at Hereford last season, won the Mixed Open at Bangor.
Ben had his first ride at Weston Park in 2006 and admits "It wasn't overly successful." His parents are both University lecturers, but his interest in the sport goes back to his grandmother, who worked in racing.
Based near Shrewsbury, he has worked for Point-to-Point trainers in the North West area but now has his own yard, breaking and schooling young horses. He had a couple of youngsters for Pointing this season and is looking to increase numbers next year. He has his own website, www.severnequus.co.uk.
