The Oakley Hunt looks forward to their annual Point-to-Point this Sunday at Brafield on the Green in Northamptonshire.
With six races on the card and some high quality horses entered it promises to be a superb day of racing.
Action begins at 1.00pm with the Open Maiden. Mister Cee Jay, who has often been placed, thoroughly deserves to lose his Maiden tag and as usual will be partnered by Emily Harbour. There are some interesting types entered though and Doodle Eile and Karatino, who have placed form, ought to run well.
Kicks For Free returned to winning ways at Cothelstone last Sunday following a lay off since his early season wins at Cottenham; if he came here it would be no surprise to see him win again. However Scotland Yard, also a winner at the weekend, and The Hutchinson family's Mendo, who recently won a Confined in fine style at Brockelsby Park, are two sure to make it a competitive event.
Only nine have been entered for the Mens Open but they are of the highest quality. They include More Trouble, who has solid form in this grade and has proved himself very consistent, previous track winner Point Proven and Cedrus Libani, who has disappointed this season but if returning to form could take all the beating. Naunton Brook has been rejuvenated by Pointing this season and will be bidding to gain a fifth success.
The Restricted race looks likely to be competitive; 24 are entered and plenty have recent form. Kings Chase and Tinkers Burrow look the pick here, the latter receives the 7lb mares allowance and she could take full advantage of that. Gleeson, who was unlucky last season when slipping up on the bend at Kingston Blount whilst travelling strongly, could reap reward here. The Tom Lacey-trained Cavite Zeta ran disappointingly last time but would be no surprise to see him return to the winners enclosure here.
Admission costs are £10 per person. Postcode NV7 1BJ. There will be tradestands and hot / cold food and drink available throughout the day.
