09 January 2008 Point-to-Point Owners & Riders Club - Barbury Racecourse

Honourable Spider: looking for repeat victory

The 2008 South Midlands Area campaign switches to Barbury Racecourse, Wiltshire, this weekend for the two-day Point-to-Point Owners & Riders Club meeting.

One rider who will be looking forward to the fixture with great anticipation is Rilly Goschen, who is chasing her 100th winner. Goschen has three rides booked for trainer Victoria Collins at the meeting and will be looking for that elusive century of winners.

Three horses which were successful at last year's corresponding meeting are set to line-up at this year's renewal.

Lady Edison, winner of the Club Members Intermediate race last year, is entered in Saturday's Connolly's Red Mills Intermediate race - a qualifier for the final at Cheltenham in May - as is Lord Payne, the winner of the 2007 Club Members Restricted, who also has an entry in Saturday's Club Members Conditions race. While Honourable Spider, who won the 2007 Mens Open, has an entry in this year's renewal.

Trainer Robert Waley-Cohen enjoyed a double at the weekend and both his winners will be looking for quick back-to-back success at Barbury.

Something Small, a winner of the Mens Open at Larkhill, is entered in Sunday's Volkswagen Touareg Mens Open, while stablemate Irilut, a winner of the Mens Open at Tweseldown, lines up in Saturday's Mixed Open.

First race time for both Saturday and Sunday is 11.30am.
