09 August 2011 PRESS RELEASE: Eleven Point-to-Point fixtures due to be staged during November and December 2011
The Point-to-Point Authority (PPA) is pleased to announce that the start of the UK Point-to-Point season will be on Sunday, 27th November when there will be two fixtures - at Black Forest Lodge in Devon & Cornwall and Cottenham in East Anglia.
These will then be followed by a further 6 fixtures running on every weekend up to and including the weekend before Christmas with a further 3 running after the festivities.
The dates are:
Black Forest Club, Black Forest Lodge: Sunday 27th November
Cambridge University United Hunts Club, Cottenham: Sunday 27th November
Point-to-Point Owners & Riders Club, Barbury Racecourse: Saturday 3rd December
Point-to-Point Owners & Riders Club, Barbury Racecourse: Sunday 4th December
Cornwall Hunt Club, Wadebridge: Sunday 11th December
Hursley Hambledon, Tweseldown: Sunday 11th December
Ratcheugh Racing Club, Alnwick: Sunday 11th December
South Midlands Area Club, Whitfield: Sunday 18th December
Harkaway Club, Chaddesley Corbett: Tuesday 27th December
South Devon Hunts Club, Ideford Arch: Tuesday 27th December
Cambridgeshire Harriers Hunt Club, Cottenham: Saturday 31st December
New for December 2011 is the Hursley Hambledon meeting at Tweseldown, which albeit an existing fixture, has moved to a new date and venue. The same is said regarding the South Midlands Area Club at Whitfield, whilst remaining at the same venue this too has also moved to an earlier date. The PPORC and Ratcheugh Racing Club (both of which were hit by inclement weather in 2010 and failed to run) have again applied for December dates.
Details of "race types" to be framed at each meeting will be circulated in due course, with details of the conditions attached to them being available to download via pointtopoint.co.uk at a later date.
The full fixture list will be available at the end of September / beginning of October following ratification by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA).
