Point-to-Point action in the Dvon & Cornwall area takes place at Black Forest Lodge at Kenton near Exeter on Sunday (January 16) with a Members race kicking off the seven-race card at 12.00pm.
Five are entered including the Robert Chanin-trained seven-year-old Madam Noso who will be bidding to win the Silverton race for the second year in a row. She won easily last year and if she's fit for her seasonal debut she should go close again.
Next up is a Restricted race for Novice Riders with the first two past the post eligible for the £1,000 Dodson & Horrell PPORA Club Members Race final in May in Cheshire.
Entries include Amber Love, who won a Maiden and then finished a decent second in a Restricted in 2009 but was disappointing last year. Light Touch has proved a consistent partner for Vicky Wade, finishing third at Wadebridge before Christmas and he deserves to get his nose in front. Another to note is Hot Climate who ran with promise on a couple of ocassions last year, including at the course when he finished second to Think On This.
Ladies races are always competitive and Sunday's race looks no exception with the 19 Entries including Hunter Chase winner Apollo Blaze, Dr Cerullo who looks sure to add to his wins this season and Surenaga, a 12-length winner of a Mixed Open at the course in December.
There are pleny of consistent Open horses in the Mens race and among the 18 Entries are Nenuphar Collognes, who started favourite at Larkill last week and may improve on his third place; also entered is Quaddick Lake who was decent enough under Rules for David Pipe.
The Open Maiden has been split into three divisions. In the second division King Dick may improve on his third place at the course last month. In the first leg I'm Innocent returns after a lay off having finished second on three occasions in Maiden races in 2009. Miss Tinks is a year older and could well progress from her outing last season in the third division; she's well-bred being out of the prolific mare Miss O'Grady and, given time, could make her mark.
The race course offers excellent viewing and there are also a hog roast, licensed bar, bookies and trade stands. Entrance is £20 per car, £10 for a single driver and £10 walk in.
