12 February 2008 Sinnington - Duncombe Park
Well Presented: trained by David Easterby
The Yorkshire Area Point-to-Point season continues on Saturday 16th with the Sinnington meeting at Duncombe Park, where 157 entries have been received. The Maiden with an entry of 47 has been divided resulting in an eight race card.
Starting, at 12.30, with the Members race which looks like a match between Welcome To Unos, who was noted staying on well to finish 5th in a hot Brocklesby Park Ladies Open, and Cop Howe, who looked useful when winning the Restricted at Witton Castle, and can win for David Sheilds.
The Confined race has the largest entry of 40 and looks very competitive. Amongst those entered are the consistent Abandon Ship, the David Easterby trained pair of Glennelly Gale, who was just touched off at Sheriff Hutton, and Well Presented, who won there. Others who catch the eye are out and out stayer Young Claude, General Grey, and recent Alnwick winner Wildfield Rufo.
Network Oscar, who won his last Maiden race with plenty in hand, will have plenty of support in the Restricted, but John Wade's Always Right looks like a horse to follow, after winning the other Maiden division at Sheriff Hutton without coming under any pressure, and gets the vote.
The Mens Open race has 20 entered which include Mr Friday, who returns after a year off, Imps Way, who may need the run, Europa, who was top class two seasons ago under national hunt rules, and Amicelli, who romped home in the Mens Open at last week's Brocklesby meeting, and it is the latter who can follow up for Oliver Greenall.
The Ladies Open sees all the areas top horses entered. With Interdit likely to take in a Kelso Hunter Chase, the race looks to be between Duchess Account, Encore Cadoudal and the Jacqueline Coward ridden pair of Narciso and One Five Eight.
Both Maiden divisions can go to horses trained by David Easterby. Malton will only need to reproduce his running when chasing home Network Oscar last time out to win division one, whilst Pristine Condition will be very short odds to win division 2.
