With 256 entries, sundays fixture at Whitfield racecourse promises to be an action packed day involving top performers, human and equine. Ten races are scheduled and the first race is now at 11am to ensure beating the fading light.
The two feature races look to be the Mens and Ladies opens. In the Ladies the Angela Rucker ridden Petit Lord is bidding to go one better following his two seconds at Cottenham earier this season. However, he could face tough opposition from last season's impressive Tabley Ladies Open winner Lagosta, while Why Connie could make an appearance returning from injury.
The Mens Open holds entries from a number of very high-class horses, including Robert Waley-Cohens Irilut, a prolific winner in recent seasons, True Friday is a prolific mare from the Atherstone country, while Euro Bleu won a Folkestone Hunter Chaser last season. Also entered are a couple of useful ex-National Hunt horses, Saintsaire and Billyvoddan.
The Restricted race has plenty of nice maiden winners from last season and this engaged. Gleeson, who won a Maiden last season at Horseheath, will be representing the Mervyn Loggin stable and he could see strong opposition from Goscar Rock, who earlier this season won a Maiden impressively at Cottenham.
Amongst the entries for the Conditions race are Claridge, previously placed in a Ladies on this track, and Mytabeen, a useful performer on his day, but the pick of the race would have to be Arctic Double, a very useful performer.
It is sure to be a super day for all the family with stalls and trade stands to suit all ages, attractions also including a merry-go-round for the children. Entrance fee is £20 for a car or £10 single occupancy.
