The South Shropshire Hunt have attracted a decent entry of 125 for their meeting at Eyton-on-Severn (SY5 6PW) on May Bank Holiday Monday May 3rd 2010

Racing comes under starters orders at 2.00pm and is set to conclude at 5.40pm. Racegoers are advised to arrive early because this fixture often attracts a crowd of 10,000 plus.

Admission to this popular Shropshire course, which has been racing since 1923, is only £25 per car regardless of the number of passengers; single occupancy will be charged at £10.

The Mens Open for the John Whalley Perpetual Challenge Cup has attracted a top class quality entry. Heading the bunch is the Sian McCain-trained Vicario; the Vettori gelding who runs in the well known colours of the flamboyant Owner Derek Malam. The Belinda Clarke-trained Belligerent sprang a shock at the Tanatside meeting at this course last month when beating Vicario, setting the scene for an interesting rematch. Horsham Lad, trained by Fergal O'Brien for Owners William and Angela Rucker, is a progressive type who has won his last three races between the flags; the latest at Brocklesby saw the Muroto gelding beat Pleasure Shared readily by three lengths. Others to note with solid winning form are Cedrus Libani, He's The Gaffer and Shady Anne.

The South Shropshire Hunt will be having a parade of their hounds after the third race, this event is very popular with the younger generation who love to go into the paddock and mingle with the hounds.
