WORSHIP THE STARS: could bid for third win of the season
The South Shropshire Hunt have attracted a bumper entry of 170 for their meeting at Eyton on Severn this Easter Monday April 13th 2009, which is an increase of 4% on the corresponding meeting last year.
Racing comes under starters orders at 1.00pm and is set to conclude at 4.40pm, but with 35 entered for the two and a half mile Maiden and 36 entered for the Open Maiden, there is a possible than one of these races may be divided on the afternoon.
Admission to this popular Shropshire course, which has been racing since 1923 is only £25 per car regardless of the number of passengers, which represents good value for money, single occupancy will be charged at £15. As well as a good days racing in prospect there is also the fair for the younger generation, and for the grown ups there is an abundance of trade stands
Clerk Of the course Jonathon Cornes lists the going as Firm on Monday April 6th 2009. He expects the going could be good on the day of the racing, speaking earlier today, he said, "I have just come back from the course and it is firm ground, tomorrow we will start to water and spike the course, but there is rain forecast and we have to be mindful of that, all being well we should have decent going for the races."
The first horse past the judge in the Intermediate race will qualify for the £7,500 Connolly's Red Mills Intermediate Point to Point Hunter Chase Final at Cheltenham racecourse on Wednesday May 6th 2009.
