A most exciting card is in prospect at Upcott Cross on Bank Holiday Monday (25th May) where the seven-race South Tetcott programme has attracted a total of 160 entries.

The Confined opens proceedings at 2pm and sets a high standard with 14 of the 23 entries holding winning form this season. In a most open looking event, The Boss Roche, Swift Wood, Bannow Strand and Jack's Taxi may prove best.

The Mens Open looks another cracking contest with the 23 entries headed by Hunter Chase winner Whizzaar. His main opposition could be Tonic du Charmil, Stone Valley, Apollo Blaze and the improving Niver Bai.

All In The Stars bids to follow up his Flete win in the Ladies Open. Spuddler's Dream and Double Honour can give him most to do.

There are plenty of winners and improvers amongst the 27 nominations for the Restricted. The Richard Barber trained Shaver Baines would not want the ground too soft in his attempt to repeat his Woodford victory. In those circumstances, Mr Redwood, Turnworth and Quite A Splash are worth considering.

Carrie On has won both her races this season and can continue Polly Gundry's good run in the Intermediate. It would be no surprise if Polly's stable also supplied one of the split Maiden winners, where Tom Bach and Meilyr look ready to step up on previous form.

The other Maiden can go to Oneoneeight who can be forgiven for his recent Holnicote disappointment. Deloughtane and Durnovaria have good placed form, and Ernzturn looked capable of improvement at Ideford Arch.

Entrance costs £20 per car and occupants, with £10 for a car and single occupant. The course is located 1 mile west of the A3079, near Beaworthy and Halwill Junction. The postcode, for sat-nav users, is EX21 5AE.
