One of the highlights of the South Wold Point-to-Point will be the AGA sponsored Ladies Open race.

This race is a qualifier for the for the £7500 AGA Ladies Open Point-to-Point Championship Final Hunter Chase at Cheltenham on Wednesday 4th May.

Jill Dawson has a good chance in this race with both Vingis Park and Pass It On entered. Pass It On was fourth in the Brocklesby AGA Ladies Open race behind the Cheltenham Foxhunters-bound Optimistic Harry. This was a pleasing run since this horse missed all last season with an abscess in his foot and he may be able to score on Saturday. Jacqui Coward and her Mother Cherry may run Amicelli here instead of at Cheltenham; Eliza Doalott won well at Charm Park recently and would also have a chance for Maxine Stirk and Freya Brewer.

Course winner High Ron could move up a grade in the Foster and Grant Restricted Race. This gelding won a Maiden race at the Brocklesby meeting and his jockey Joe Docker is on the verge of riding a century of winners in Point-to-Points.

Jane Kent has Ivan's Back entered in the Restricted race. This gelding won a Maiden race at Thorpe in February in impressive style, then ran at the Brocklesby meeting where he was unsuited by the soft going. Ivan's Back will like the better ground that is expected on Saturday and also holds an Entry in the earlier Connolly's Red Mills Intermediate race. This race is a qualifier for the £7000 Connolly's Red Mills Intermediate Point to Point Championship Final at Cheltenham on Wednesday 4th May. Joan Tice may run the game mare Teeton Coral in the race; she is progressive and would have a good chance

Johnny Bailey could ride either Dermatologiste or Walter's Laddie in the Gleadell Agriculture Confined Race. Walter's Laddie, who is trained by Stuart Morris, has had a run of seconds in Point-to-Points and unfortunately fell last time. He has a good chance here and so does Menchikov, who was narrowly beaten by Christy Beamish at Garthorpe recently.

Christy Beamish may line up again in the Melton Mowbray Market Midlands Area Club race for Novice Riders and could win again for Kelsey Willis. Harlaxton was second in a Restricted race at North Carlton earlier in the year. Harlaxton is likely to be ridden again by the promising Rider Matt Stanley who will be returning from a collar bone injury. Early Wings has been running well and could give either Lucy or George Saunders a first winner.

D & M Barthorpe, sponsors of the Midlands Area Championships, are supporting the Mens Open race. My Old Piano would have a good chance here; he is in form having won at Charm Park recently. Rare Gold, who won the Mens Open at the Brocklesby meeting, may be able to repeat that success for the Peter's family.

Dale Peters is likely to ride Another Grand who may line up in the opening Richard Sanderson (on-course Bookmaker) Maiden race. This four-year-old ran well on his debut at Thorpe, but was unlucky at the Brocklesby meeting when carried out by a loose horse. He is trained by Oliver Williams and owned by the Folk From The Shire Partnership. Roger Jackson's Propriano du Bourg should have a good chance; he has run well on several occasions and may be able to lose his Maiden tag on Saturday.

There is a new trophy this year, the Lilian Pickering Perpetual Challenge Trophy which will be presented to the Leading Rider at the two meetings at Brocklesby Park in 2011. South Midlands Area jockey Tom Ellis is currently in the lead following his double at the Brocklesby Point-to-Point. One of those winners, Action Steel is entered on Saturday in the Restricted race.

Brocklesby Park is near Habrough, just off the A18 near Humberside Airport five miles from junction 5 of the M180. There will be bookmakers, a licensed bar, refreshments and a good selection of trade stands. Entrance is £8 per person, under 16's and car parking are free, race cards are £2.50.

The first race is due off at 12.30pm and the last of seven races at 4pm. The first race the Richard Sanderson (On Course Bookmaker) Maiden race has attracted 44 Entries and may be divided on the day.

The track has gone back well following the Brocklesby meeting. The running rails have been moved to give fresh ground on the bends and the seventh fence has been re-sited onto fresh ground.
