05 May 2011 Stratford Hunter Chase Evening - May 27th

by Stratford Racecourse

This year, for the first time in history, two jewels in the crown of Hunter Chase finals will be run on the same night: the first night of Stratford's two day evening meeting on Friday May 27th.

The new arrangement will be tried out this year in order to build on the considerable numbers of Hunter Chase and Point to Point aficionados who are already present at course because of the annual Point to Point Owners and Riders' (PPORA) Annual General Meeting and Awards Luncheon.

In addition to the W & S Recycling Stratford Foxhunters Champion Hunters' Chase (for the Horse and Hound Cup) and the pointtopoint.co.uk Champion Novices' Hunters Chase (for the John Corbet Cup), the programme includes also the popular Apex Working in the Community 2m1f Hunter Chase and the Racing Post Weekender Ladies Hunters' Steeple Chase, plus two Hurdle races and a Novices' Handicap Steeple Chase for professionals.

Managing Director/Clerk of the Course Stephen Lambert enthused: ‘With £65,000 of prize money on offer, this is going to be a cracking evening's racing. All PPORA members and their guests attending the luncheon have entrance to the racing included in their package, which we hope will swell the already impressive numbers of that community who attend the day. We are very excited about this experiment which will not detract in any way from our Saturday card, (this year run in partnership with The Countryside Alliance), which has seven races and over £54,000 of prize money including the 0-145 Rybrook BMW Handicap Steeplechase for horses rated 0-145. We hope that many people will attend on both nights.'
