04 March 2008 Suffolk - Ampton
This Sunday's Suffolk meeting at Ampton will start at 1.30pm (not 1.00pm as previously advertised). The opening Hunt Race will go off at 1.30pm and the subsequent five races will take place at 35 minute intervals, concluding with the Open Maiden at 4.25pm.
The steeplechasing will be preceded by two Children's pony races, the first two to take place in East Anglia this season, due off at 12.15pm and 12.30pm respectively.
A total of 75 entries have been received, including eight for the curtain-raiser. This could go again to Cosmic Sky, who numbers this race in 2006 among his three course victories, although Winapenny, a back-to-form second at Horseheath two weeks ago, could give him plenty to do.
Both Cosmic Sky and Winapenny are also among the 18 engaged in the Confined where Dunmanus Bay, another old stager who recently bounced back to form, looks the pick.
The Ladies' Open includes Millennium Way, another three-time course winner including in this race 12 months ago, and Scare Lotte, who has twice looked unlucky since notching an early season double, among its 15 entries.
The are only six possibles in the Men's equivalent, but they include three course winners - Court Adjourn, Persian Hero and Quality First.
Ampton is four miles north of Bury St Edmunds just off the A134. Coming from Bury, turn right by the pub in the village of Ingham. Admission will be charged at £10 per head with under 17s free.
