Nathos: entered in the Ladies' Open for South East Champion Lady Rider 'elect' Heather Kemp
With the final Point-to-Point of the South East season taking place at Peper Harow, near Godalming, on Saturday (May 10th), Stuart Robinson leads the race for the Men's riders' title by a slender four points. Just ten points cover four riders and, with six points for a win (four for second, two for third); it's the closest finish to a season for many years.
Robinson rides Bee An Bee in the Men's Open and will be counting on the horse's sixth win of the season to consolidate his lead. Parzando could clinch it for him in the Restricted, but closest rival Nick Pearce, just four points adrift, has a choice of mounts (Tate's Avenue and Little Mickey) and Pete Bull, lying fourth, is on impressive Penshurst maiden winner Laguna Beach.
Reigning champion Philip Hall, eight points off the lead, will ride Frozen Assets in the Members' race and Delgany Gale in the Men's Open. The Lady riders' title seems certain to go to Heather Kemp, like Stuart Robinson an owner-rider with a small string and up against larger yards. She has entered Nathos for the Ladies' Open (which will also feature Carryonharry), and also runs Clover Bay in the Restricted.
Peper Harow racecourse is on the B3001 one mile west of the A3 junction at Milford and three miles west of Godalming. Admission prices are £30 and £20 per car, or £5 for pedestrians. Pony racing starts at 12.30 with the main card at 2.00pm.
