19 February 2008 Thurlow - Horseheath

Six of the seven winners from the Horseheath meeting on February 2 may attempt to follow up at the Thurlow fixture at the same course on Saturday.

A total of  126 horses have been entered for a seven-race card which gets under way at 1.00pm with a Hunts Club Members and runs through until 4.20pm when the Open Maiden (which is the only race in danger of being split on the day with 30 entries and a safety factor of 18) comes under orders.

The Hookie Bookie and Unmistakably were good winners of the Open races here three weeks ago and will  be difficult to beat if making a return visit. The Hookie Bookie's 11 potential rivals in the Mens version include the enigmatic but talented Cosmic Sky, while Unmistakably could face a rematch with Madge Carroll in the Ladies equivalent though owner-rider, Angela Rucker, may opt to run her other entry among the 24 engaged, the talented Blue Business.

Jilted Lover, the Restricted winner here last time, has a choice of targets but both could prove beyond him. Bravery Scotch, from the bang in form Paul Jones yard, has outstanding claims ahead of him in the Intermediate, while Jilted Lover may not yet be ready for the step up to Open company in the Ladies, a remark that could also apply to recent dual Novice Riders' scorer, Scare Lotte.

Bob Ar Aghaidh will have plenty of supporters in his bid to double up in the opener, though the veteran Montys Tag should go well here, while The Piper's Son may make it two wins on the spin in the Restricted.

The card features an 11-entry Mares Maiden, jointly sponsored by the Thoroughbred Breeders Association and the Master of Foxhounds Association, and this could go to Mid Div And Creep, who should appreciate this stiff track.

Admission will be charged at £10 per head including a free racecard with under 17s allowed in free and racecards available at £2 for those with entry passes.

The course is south west of the village of Horseheath, between Linton and Haverhill, and has excellent access off a dual carriageway section of the A1307.
