The wintry weather put a temporary stop on Point-to-Point racing in the Devon and Cornwall area but its all systems go again this weekend with two meetings scheduled to take place. The North Cornwall's rescheduled meeting takes place at Wadebridge on Saturday and the Tiverton Foxhounds meetings goes ahead at Chipley Park near Wellington on Sunday.
Chipley Park always attracts one of the largest crowds of the season where quality racing together with a large array of tradestands, food and a licensed bar make it a popular day out.
Racing begins at 12pm with a Hunt Members race and entries include last year's winner Come What Augustus, a winner already this season of a Mens Open at Wadebridge. Also entered is the multiple winning Rockwithacaveman.
The Mixed Open is worth £500 and entries include Sarah Hobbs' Zabenz, a dual Ladies winner in '09 and rated 141 at best under rules, and stablemate Minella Tipperary.
The Exeter Racecourse Intermediate qualifier, one of ten races the track has sponsored in the area, with the final at the course on ladies' evening, May 4th, has ten entries including Fully Loaded who has won three times already this season.
Dodson and Horrell sponsor the PPORA Club Members race for Novice Riders and there are ten entries including I Am Said I, the game mare Kingsmill Lake, and the grand veteran Spuddlers Dream who has won eight times during his career.
Sixteen are entered in the Restricted, while the Maiden race has been split into two divisions.
A spokesman from the meeting said: "With the recent weather causing so many cancellations, its great to be racing again this weekend and we are anticipating a large crowd as its always a very popular venue."
The meeting is held at Chipley Park off the B3187, three miles from Wellington and one mile from Milverton and will be signposted. Entrance is £20 per car or £10 per car with one occupant.
