THE Tiverton Foxhounds Point-to-Point takes place at Chipley Park, near Wellington, Somerset this Sunday (January 23rd).
The Entries look particularly strong with 140 nominations for the seven-race programme.Action gets under way at 12.00noon when Come What Augustus bids to follow up last year's win in the Hunt race for champion jockey Richard Woollacott.
The Mixed Open has attracted 24 Entries, headed by that grand campaigner Ask Again, who will be bidding for his fifth consecutive win at this track. Sarah West will have him spot on, but stiff opposition awaits such as Bishy Barnaby, Sheriff Roscoe, Chiaro and Walter de Wodeland.
Blackstaff looked really progressive when scoring at Wadebridge recently and heads the 13-strong Intermediate entries. Cousin John and My Minds Maid are also capable of winning in this grade.
The PPORA Novice Riders race looks wide open. The 27 Entries include hunter chase winners Nobody Tells Me and Distant Thunder, who has been bought for Philip Prince to ride this season. Former top-class chaser Thisthatandtother won five times last season and will have the services of 16-year-old Harry Derham this time. Alpha Native won recently and Paddy The Piper and Barney's Mate cannot be ruled out.
Knight In The City stayed on strongly to win his Maiden at Wadebridge and bids to follow up in the 23-strong Restricted. Flanshan jumped well to score at Larkhill earlier this month, while Kenickie and Certain Flight have each enjoyed Maiden success.
The Maiden has been divided with 20 Entries in each section. Sarika looked an unlucky loser at Wadebridge, where Logan Road showed plenty of promise. Parkam Jack and Round About may represent the pick of the runners with form in the concluding section.
The course at Chipley Park is located 3 miles NE of Wellington on the B3187. If travelling by motorway take junction 26 of the M5 then proceed to Wellington town centre. Turn right on to B3187 signposted Milverton at traffic lights in the town centre. Entry costs £20 per car with £10 for a single occupant.
