Farlington: one of two entries for Philippa Shirley-Beavan in the Mens Open
The Vale of Lune Hunt look set to stage a good competitive day's racing between the flags at Whittington, Nr Kirby Lonsdale, on Easter Saturday March 22nd. This fixture has attracted 113 entries and, as an incentive and as a token of gratitude to the owners and trainers that regularly support this meeting, the Vale of Lune will be refunding the £20 entry fee to the connections of all the declared runners at the course.
Racing comes under starters orders at 2.00pm and is set to conclude at 5.10pm. In addition to six races on the card there will be two pony races before racing at 1.00pm.
Admission to this popular Cumbrian course is only £25 per car, regardless of the number of passenger, single occupancy will be charged at £15.
The first horse past the judge in the Men's Open will qualify for the £10,000 Volkswagen Touareg Mens Championship Hunter Chase Final at Towcester on Monday, May 12th. Among the entries is last year's winner Farlington, trained by Philippa Shirley-Beavan, who also has the prolific Themanfromcarlisle in the race. Others to note include Hip Pocket, Castleford, Le Seychellois and Young Claude.
The Vale of Lune will be parading their hounds at around 3.20pm. This event is very popular with the younger generation who love to go into the parade ring and mingle with the hounds.
