22 April 2008 West Norfolk - Fakenham

Rydal Park, a hunter chase winner at Towcester last time out, has suffered a solitary defeat, in a hot hunter chase at Leicester, from five starts this year, and may continue the good work in the Mens Open here, for which there are 15 entries.

His trainer-rider, David Kemp, also has good claims in the Confined Conditions race, where Took My Eye is his representative among 12 possibles.

Beet de Bob, trained near Stratford by Susan Busby, has won three times at Higham this term and has 16 potential rivals in the Ladies Open.

The opening combined West Norfolk and North Norfolk Harriers Hunt race is due off at 2.00pm and has seven engaged. It could feature an intriguing battle between the Vaughan-Jones brothers, with Alex set to make the pace on Ballyowen, chased by Sam aboard Nokimover.

The in-form Tory Hayter yard has Siam de Baune among the 20 entries for the Restricted race, which is also the number entered for the closing Open Maiden, set to come under orders at 4.55pm.

The steeplechasing will be followed by two pony races, which are likely to go off at around 5.15pm and 5.25pm.

The pointing course is around the outside of the National Hunt course, two miles south west of the town of Fakenham. It is well signed, and most of the permanent facilities offered by the professional course will be in use on Sunday, including the grandstand. Admission is £10 per person, under 16's free.
