National Hunt trainer Tim Vaughan, fresh from training a treble at Fakenham, is proving a success not only at training racehorses but also as a guest speaker.
Entertaining his audience at the West Wales Area Point-to-Point Annual Awards and Dinner Dance held at the Nant-y-ffin Hotel, Llandissilio, Tim was also on hand to present the trophies to the 2009 Area champions.
There were also three special presentations made on the night, with Carmarthen's Dai Jones receiving two of them. The first award, the Henry Blake Memorial Trophy, was accepted by Dai on behalf of his family for their outstanding contribution to the sport of Point-to-Pointing in West Wales. The second award was an oil painting to commemorate his 200th winner, which he rode and went on to pass in 2009.
Cynthia Higgon was thrilled to receive a Candy Mathias bronze to mark her retirement as Area Secretary following.40 years of service. The applause received from the room was a display of the appreciation for all her hard work and dedication she has shown to the area.
The West Wales season has its earliest ever start in 2010, with the inaugural West Wales Area Club fixture kicking the campaign off on Sunday 3rd January.
