A new chapter could be written into the Point-to-Point record books at Wadebridge this Saturday, as seven-times Lady Champion jockey Polly Gundry bids to overhaul Alison Dare's career record total of 287 winners.
Ottery St Mary-based Polly needs one winner to equal the record and she has a strong hand in the Intermediate with Labarynth and Mulligan's Pet, although course winners Ha Ho Magregor and Print The Money would be real dangers.
The 29 Entries for the Open Maiden could mean a split on the day; and Tara Whale and Tellemall Brother are ready to do duty for the Ottery yard.
Takotna is their entry for the Ladies Open, but would have to improve to defeat course specialist Innocent Rebel. The latter's trainer Karyn Heard may be represented in the Mens Open by Ellies Horse, where The Boss Roche and Celtic Society are likely to make their seasonal debuts in a strong looking race.
The Restricted also looks competitive, with recent Maiden winners My Nicole, Alpha Native, Charming Gael and The Boss amongst the 12 Entries.
The meeting gets under way at 12.30, when the mare Glacial Call will be seeking her fourth success of the season in the Confined. The Heard representative, Flying Schuttle, failed to act in the soft ground earlier in the season and drying conditions would suit this locally trained eight-year-old. Wee Fly would also enter calculations here on quicker ground.
The Course is located at the Royal Cornwall Showground, one mile west of the town on the A39 (PL27 7JE). Admission to the races is £10 for car and driver, £5 per passenger. The usual showground facilities make for comfortable surroundings. Locally made refreshments, plus trade stands, a spring market, bar and bookmakers are always popular in the large barn.
