20 April 2011 Preview: York & Ainsty - Easingwold

by Charlotte Brader

The York and Ainsty Point-to-Point has received 122 entries for the seven race card at Easingwold on Sunday 24th April. The first race, the Hunt Members Race, is at 2.00pm and the course is being watered from Monday 18th April to produce safe racing ground and hopefully plenty of runners.

After the first race, at approximately 2.15pm, there will be a children's fancy dress competition with some great prizes to be won, including tickets to Lightwater Valley, a gift voucher from Greens Farm Health, Thirsk, and chocolate eggs from the Northern Bookmakers.

The Ladies Open has received 16 entries and the spoils are likely to go to Delfinia, who likes a sharp track and has run well at Easingwold in the past.

In the Mens equivalent, Knoxhill Archie is another horse who excels at Easingwold and it wouldn't be a surprise to see him in the shake up; however Sea Senor, who was much better behaved at the Middleton meeting, seems to be in good heart and could be the one to beat.

Several horses entered in the Restricted have had quite a few runs recently so we could see this field reduced in size, though potential runner Silk and Roses was a good winner at Mordon last Sunday. Victor came second on this course last year and On Holiday made a winning debut to his Point-to-Pointing career but has since experienced some bad luck in his races. Oriel Bank has progressed nicely since his first run at Sheriff Hutton and could be the one to beat.

The Maiden race has been split leading to two divisions, the second and last races.

The postcode for satellite navigation is YO61 3PS and the admission costs for this Easter weekend family fun day is £10 per person, with accompanied under 16's admitted free.
