Pique Rock, who knocked up a hat-trick of point-to-point wins last season for owner Juliet Minton and trainer Phil Rowley, scored on her first start over hurdles today.
The six-year-old mare has transferred to Shropshire trainer Henry Daly and been slotted into his Racing Club Syndicate since last seen in action for Rowley in early summer. Today, at Bangor-on-Dee, she made her debut for her new stable, made all the running, and won by 10 lengths under champion jockey Richard Johnson.
A daughter of former champion sire King's Theatre, Pique Rock was Rowley's first winner of the 2017/18 season, scoring at Barbury Castle in late November (pictured above) and teeing up his victory in the Foran Equine Trainers' Championship for yards with eight or more horses. She also provided stable rider Alex Edwards with a useful tally as he won the Fuller's Men's Championship for the first time.
