A pair of winning UK pointers join the 24-strong line-up for this evening’s Tattersalls’ Festival Sale at Cheltenham.

Ramillies (Lot 14), a four-year-old gelding by Shantou, justified his €60,000 store price and opened his account at the first time of asking when sent to Bishops Court earlier this month. He was ridden by Tommie O'Brien in the colours of Tom Lacey, who consigns him this evening – at the sale last year Lacey sold Interconnected for £220,000, a record for a British pointer at public auction.

O'Brien also rode Presence Of Mind (Lot 15) when he scored at Charlton Horethorne on Sunday. The four-year-old son of Presenting is consigned by trainer Fran Nimmo and her partner, jockey Charlie Poste.

Former pointer Santini beaten but not bowed

Former British point-to-pointer Santini ran a fine race when second in yesterday's Gr.1 RSA Chase at the Cheltenham Festival.

A winner at Didmarton when trained by Ed Walker, the gelding was subsequently moved to Nicky Henderson for a career under Rules, and has emerged as a leading novice chaser. He lost a shoe in a recent work session at Newbury racecourse and had been held up by a corn, so his narrow defeat by Topofthegame in the RSA Chase was a commendable effort.

Topofthegame was ridden by former Fullers' novice men's champion point-to-point rider Harry Cobden, who wore the colours of Paul Barber, a familiar face and owner on the UK point-to-point circuit.
