All welcome to Memorial Service for Mark Bradstock

Sara Bradstock would like to inform the point-to-point fraternity that all are welcome to a memorial service for her late husband Mark Bradstock at St Michael & All Angels Church, Letcombe Bassett, near Wantage, on Thursday, June 6 (2pm).

Mark, who famously trained Coneygree to win the 2015 Cheltenham Gold Cup and Carruthers to land the 2011 Hennessy Gold Cup, died at the age of 66 in early March after a long illness.

He was regularly seen on the point-to-point circuit when Sara was running horses with their daughter, Lily, on board.

Sara said: "Everyone is welcome. It will be very much a celebration of his life, so black is not in it, and we will raise a glass to him in the village hall afterwards.

"We would love to know if people are coming, so we know how many bottles to buy."

Coneygree and probably Step Back, winner of the bet365 Gold Cup at Sandown in 2018 and more recently a point-to-point at Edgcote (pictured above, right, red and blue), will have a special role to play on the day as they lead the congregation from the church to the village hall.

The service will also include a gospel choir with Sara explaining: "We went to a gospel service on holiday and Mark loved it.

"Alfie (son) and Lily asked him want he would like at his service, and he said Aretha Franklin and Mick Jagger! I don't think I can provide them, but we will try and be on that theme."
