Diamond Dealer makes six figures at sales

Diamond Dealer, who won a maiden point-to-point at Buckfastleigh recently when making his racing debut, was sold for £100,000 at yesterday’s Tattersalls Cheltenham February Sale.

“I’m pleased with that - he’s a lovely horse,” said trainer Chris Barber after the son of Diamond Boy had been knocked down to Newmarket-based Ben Brookhouse, who recently took out a licence and opened his own yard, having spent a number of years as assistant to Worcestershire trainer Ian Williams.

Barber bought four-year-old Diamond Dealer (pictured above) last year at Tattersalls Ireland’s May Store Sale for €10,500.

Another three British pointers went under the hammer. Tom Weston sold Garthorpe winner Bond Broker, who he had bought as a foal for €6,500, to Highflyer Bloodstock for £80,000. Impression Chic, who finished second to Bond Broker, was sold by Bradley Gibbs for £26,000, but Imperial D’Ainay, who won at Badbury Rings on Sunday, was led from the ring unsold.
