The popular course at Flete Park holds their second meeting on Saturday of a busy Bank Holiday Weekend. Gates open at 11am and be sure to get there early to watch the 3 Pony Races which will take place before racing at 1pm. The first race is due off at 2pm with 57 entries received. Dogs are welcome on leads and encouraged to take part in the popular dog show in the Countryside Ring. Tickets on the gate £15 (Accompanied under 16’s go free) cash and card accepted. Postcode PL21 9NU.

The SW Law & Finance Members, Subscribers & Farmers Race 3m

Flete Park is very much a happy hunting ground for the Treneer Family and Deborah has three entered for sons Michael and Barney to try and clinch the Members Race. Their best chances look to come from Ballydesmond and Do Whatever which could see both brothers battle it out to the finish! Fongs Way has been running very well this season until an uncharacteristic duck out at the last meeting here at the ditch, causing him to fall. James Shaw will be looking to get back on track with him to provide Jessica Fereday-Jones with a second winner as a trainer. It would not be a Flete Park Members Race without a runner from the Glanville Family and they have veteran Broadclyst entered, who was a winner of this race in 2023 under daughter Pippa.

The Olympus Plant & Tool Hire & Sales Maiden Race (NWFAA) 3m

One Tree Hill has been unlucky to not get into 1st place this season and continues to run well for Louise Kittow and Jack Stenhouse. He was just touched off by 1 length here two weeks ago to finish 3rd to Banzigkane. My Ghillie (Tim Vaughan) finished a further 10 lengths behind One Tree Hill on that occasion and could chase him to the line. Richard Upton has tasted success with a winner under rules but is yet to ride a winner in Point to Points. Ballinouart could supply him with that success after decent placed form, most recently when 2nd to Top Of Off at Cothelstone.

The Granville Taylor Memorial Restricted Race

What’s Up Harry won the Maiden at this meeting two weeks ago under Ed Vaughan for Ed Rees. Master McShine (Leslie Jefford) showed plenty of class when winning a Maiden at Buckfastleigh but was disappointing at Kilworthy when pulling up and has not been seen since. Luke Price has plenty of entries over the Bank Holiday period including Callaghy and Fifty Shadesof Bay in this race. Although both are winners this season, they both have questionable form but they should not be dismissed coming from a yard with such a high strike rate. Desert Island is yet to win a Restricted but still ran very well in an Intermediate at Woodford to finish 2nd to Kilfilum Woods for Edward Walker and holds multiple entries over the weekend.

The Totnes & Bridgetown Races Company Ladies Open Race 3m

The quirky Switch Hitter has given Olive Nicholls plenty of fun in the familiar colours of Clive Hitchings and would go off a hot priced favourite in this. Emma Summersby has Jubertilee entered who won well at this course two weeks ago under Rian Corcoran and has the very experienced Jo Supple booked to ride. Emma’s other runner, Young Buck, is on a bit of a revival mission having lost his way and could find the competition here a little stiff. Clara Brewitt got a very good tune out of Kilfilum Woods, to win the Intermediate at Woodford a week ago for Francesca Poste. Clara is making a bold bid to win the Ladies Novice Jockey Championship at the end of season, which she is currently leading on 6 winners. Ryans Fancy provided Rebekah Bell with a first win in the saddle at this course last season when trained by Max Comley. Now in the care of Rebekah herself, she will be looking for a first training success here.

The Marchand Petit Flete Park Conditions Race (Level 2) 2m4

Luke Price is double handed in this race with Inchidaly Robin, who has won 4 races this season and Lavorante, who came home in front in the Members Race at Howick. Both would be suited by the drop in trip to 2m4f as would El Capitaine for Joshua Newman, who is a strong traveller and has won 5 of his 6 starts this season. Both these would be partnered by James King and Joshua Newman who are currently battling out the National Men’s Jockey Championship. St Patricks Bridge for Myles Osborne, is no mug and won double handed at Sandon over the shorter trip of 2m5f. If settling well enough, he could be an interesting runner and definitely one to keep a close eye on.

The Gun Room Veteran Horse Conditions Race (Level 2) 9yo and Over

On Springs has walked into the winner’s enclosure in all 3 of his starts this season, winning all 3 races in 20 days, all partnered by James King for Luca Morgan. He would have to defy a hefty 10lb penalty here, but this seems the only entry the horse holds over a busy bank holiday weekend. Raddon Top (Lara Pope) has provided young jockey, James Dawkins, two winners so far this season and took the 4 miler comfortably here two weeks ago, but is another to carry a penalty (5lb). Caspers Court is another to run well at this track two weeks ago staying on well down the hill to finish close to Jubertilee. He may find the market principles too hard to compete with, but could run into a place and supply Hannah Morgan with some more points for her D&C Area Novice Title bid.

The Charles Eyston Memorial Maiden Race

Hogan could finish off a good day for James King and Luke Price after finishing 2nd to Avada Kedavra at Howick. He could take this Maiden if the drop back to 2m4f is not a problem. Eile Tara had three runs under rules for Tim Vaughan before switching to Point to Points. His 2nd to Gallant Geronimo at Higham could see him be a threat to the Luke Price runner. Handsome Bill made his debut at 6 years old when he finished a well beaten 3rd behind Christopher Barber’s City Silk at Larkhill in February. He would need to take a big step forward to try and stop the win going to a welsh raider! Joshua Newman’s Queen Record has mixed form in Irish Points but the yard does very well with ex-Irish recruits. She looks like she could provide Blackmore Racing Club a winner at some point, but maybe not here, against some horses with good placed form already this season.
