Rowley trio among nine UK pointers in Cheltenham May Sale

  • Posted: Thursday, 30th May 2019

Foran Equine champion trainer Philip Rowley has sent three horses to today's Tattersalls' Cheltenham May Sale.

Shropshire-based Rowley (above) offers Bleue Away (Lot 10 (lead image)), The Grey Scholar (Lot 26) and The Odissey (Lot 53), who have all won this season. At Doncaster earlier this month, the Rowley-trained Blossoming Forth created a record auction price of £130,000 for a UK filly or mare point-to-pointer.

Four-year-olds dominate today's auction, their age-group including the Simon Edwards-trained Wingin A Prayer (Lot 4), who won at Heslaker recently, and Tango Charlie (Lot 6), who scored for Tom Chanin's Devon yard at Flete Park. Not that four-year-olds hold all the places, for six-year-old Dino Boy (Lot 37) has justified a place in the sale with a maiden point-to-point win at Woodford followed by an excellent second in Aintree's point-to-point Flat race. Dino Boy is trained by Tom Faulkner, while Wagner (Lot 49) hit the right chord for Josh Guerriero's stable when winning at Garthorpe last month.

Fran Nimmo and Charlie Poste have enjoyed a couple of six-figure sales this season, and will be hoping for another with Edgcote scorer Hereditary Rule (Lot 32), while Peter Fahey's Lubeat Foras (Lot 41) made a winning start to his racing career when scoring at Heslaker Farm.

Selling commences at 1pm – further details at www.tattersallscheltenham.com.
